Basketball Recap: Overland Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

On Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Overland Trailblazers beat the Fossil Ridge SaberCats 62-56.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Overland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mehki Mcneal, who went 5 for 7 en route to 14 points and five rebounds. Those 14 points gave Mcneal a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Siraaj Ali, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 16 points.

Cayden Clagett and Drake Walker certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Clagett went 6 for 12 en route to 16 points, while Walker went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points. Malachai Egbuji also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Overland's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9. As for Fossil Ridge, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.

Overland will challenge Mullen at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Overland's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches. As for Fossil Ridge, they will square off against Poudre at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
