Baseball Recap: Lee's Summit North Takes a Loss

Lee's Summit North had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-13 to make it four. They lost 15-3 to the Staley Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Broncos have suffered against the Falcons since March 31, 2018.

As for Staley, their victory bumped their record up to 22-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Staley's part, Laken Kelley looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. What's more, Kelley posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five games.

On the hitting side, Evan Abbott was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Phillippe, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Coming up, Lee's Summit North will look to defend their home field on Monday against Blue Springs at 4:00 p.m. As for Staley, they will head out to take on Hickman at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
