Football Game Preview: University School of Jackson Bruins vs. Jackson Christian Eagles

University School of Jackson is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Jackson Christian is on a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Bruins will host the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (University School of Jackson 9.4, Jackson Christian 12.8) so any points scored will be well earned.

On Friday, University School of Jackson earned a 17-7 victory over Tipton-Rosemark Academy. The 17-point effort marked the Bruins' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Jackson Christian made easy work of First Assembly Christian on Friday and carried off a 38-13 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by 25 points or more this season.

University School of Jackson better keep an eye on Jay Pirtle. He was instrumental in Jackson Christian's win, rushing for 136 yards and two TDs on only 11 carries. Another player making a difference was Carlos Roberson, who picked up 74 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Jackson Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 216 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 152 rushing yards in eight consecutive matchups.

University School of Jackson's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Jackson Christian, their win bumped their record up to an identical 8-1.
