The Windham RVT Mighty Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Wilcox RVT Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Windham RVT gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Grasso Tech with a sharp 14-2 win.
Hailey Andrews made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off ten hits. Andrews was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Windham RVT got a massive performance out of Adrianna Vazquez, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Genna Sargent, who scored a run while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Windham RVT was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Wilcox RVT strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Platt RVT as they made off with a 13-2 victory. Fans of the Wildcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Like Windham RVT, Wilcox RVT also got a great game from a two-way player: Chloe Enger. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Enger has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Sam OlechowSki was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Ashley Stimpson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Windham RVT now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Wilcox RVT, their record now sits at 3-0.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Windham RVT has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .600. However, it's not like Wilcox RVT struggles in that department as they've averaged .606. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Windham RVT might still be hurting after the 17-0 loss they got from Wilcox RVT when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Mighty Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
