Recap: Barnwell Warhorses vs. Marion Swamp Foxes
With a playoff game on the line, the Barnwell Warhorses rose to the challenge on Friday. They secured a 31-25 W over Marion. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Barnwell.
Barnwell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan Sturkie led the charge by picking up 138 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Barnwell also got a significant boost from Jordan Peeples, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 108 yards.
Marion's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Quay?Sheed Scott, who gained 167 total yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Cusack, who threw for 269 yards and two touchdowns.
Barnwell is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Marion, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-2.
Barnwell will square off against Oceanside Collegiate Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Oceanside Collegiate Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Barnwell in South Carolina (Oceanside Collegiate Academy is ranked 32nd, while Barnwell is ranked 94th). Marion does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
