Baseball Game Preview: Kimball Knights vs. Conrad Chargers

Kimball has gone a perfect 3-0 against Conrad recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Kimball will face off against Conrad at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Kimball is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Lincoln an 18-0 shutout on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Knights, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Joel Renteria made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

In other batting news, William Carrigan and Emiliano Maldonado did most of the damage at the plate: Carrigan scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4, while Maldonado scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Maldonado has become a key player for Kimball: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Gavin Price also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Kimball was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .559. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Conrad won against Roosevelt on Thursday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Conrad was the clear victor by a 16-2 margin over Roosevelt. The win was nothing new for the Chargers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Conrad's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Kimball, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Kimball took their victory against Conrad in their previous matchup back in February of 2021 by a conclusive 17-0. Will Kimball repeat their success, or does Conrad has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
