Recap: Illiana Christian Vikings vs. Calumet Christian Patriots
The Illiana Christian Vikings won the last time they faced the Calumet Christian Patriots, and things went their way on Monday too. Illiana Christian walked away with a 50-37 win over Calumet Christian.
Abbie Ritzema was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with six steals. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne DeJong, who scored six points along with 18 rebounds and three steals.
Calumet Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Laila Ogden, who scored 15 points. Ogden continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Anna Prim was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and six blocks.
Illiana Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Calumet Christian, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Illiana Christian is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Munster at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. Munster presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Illiana Christian in Indiana (Munster is ranked 84th, while Illiana Christian is ranked 262nd). Calumet Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hebron at 5:45 p.m. on December 12th.
