Basketball Recap: Round Valley Takes a Loss

Round Valley came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were dealt a 93-59 loss at the hands of the Point Arena Pirates. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost three in a row.

Fernando Lopez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Point Arena, shooting 7-for-12 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 44 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was Lopez's tenth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mateo VanCleave, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 21 points.

Round Valley now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Point Arena, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.

Looking ahead, Round Valley will face off against Mendocino at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Point Arena, they will challenge Potter Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
