Baseball Recap: Southside Takes a Loss

Southside lost against Northside - Pinetown last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Southside fell just short of Northside - Pinetown by a score of 3-2. The Seahawks just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Luke Bullock was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Southside's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Southside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Silva, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Southside's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Northside - Pinetown, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-7.

Coming up, Southside will venture away from home to face off against North East Carolina Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. North East Carolina Prep has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.14 runs per game on average), something Southside will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Northside - Pinetown, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Pamlico County at 6:00 p.m.
