Softball Recap: Hicks' Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Hicks dropped their record down to 22-6 on Saturday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grace Christian Warriors. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Maliah Gordy was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Saige Hagan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

As for Grace Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Grace Christian's side, Rylee Guillot spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Grace Christian let Bella Acree and Chloe Courtright run wild. Acree went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Courtright went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave Courtright a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makala White, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Hicks nor Grace Christian have any future games scheduled.
