Softball Recap: Boise Has No Trouble Against Sandpoint

Boise won the last time they faced Sandpoint and things went their way on Saturday too. Boise blew past Sandpoint 19-5. The Brave might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Boise let Lucy Hopstad and Elyse Dapsauski run wild. Hopstad scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Dapsauski scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Hopstad has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Binford, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Boise hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Boise has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. Sandpoint is on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Boise will face off against Capital at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Boise's pitchers better be ready for this one: Capital has averaged an impressive 12.8 runs per game this season. As for Sandpoint, they will challenge Lakeland at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeland has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.5 runs per game on average), something Sandpoint will no doubt try to take advantage of.
