Baseball Recap: South Elgin Comes Up Short

South Elgin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 6-1 to the Siegel Stars.

Zacharia Barkho was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, South Elgin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Robertson, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Alex Muro also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

South Elgin's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Siegel, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Elgin will challenge Huntley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Siegel, they will square off against Napoleon at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
