Preview: Henrietta Bearcats vs. Valley View Eagles
Henrietta is 3-0 against Valley View since October of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Henrietta Bearcats will head out on the road to face off against the Valley View Eagles at 9:55 p.m. Hopefully Henrietta is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Valley View in Texas (Henrietta is ranked 448th, while Valley View is ranked 1026th).
Henrietta fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They breezed by S & S Consolidated at home to the tune of 55-9.
Henrietta can attribute much of their success to Garrett Blevins, who threw for 129 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Brysen Washington was in the mix too, providing Henrietta with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Valley View was beaten by Callisburg 41-14 on Friday. Valley View was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-6.
Despite the defeat, Valley View had strong showings from Johnny Nelson, who picked up 141 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Tyler Isbell, who picked up 61 receiving yards and a touchdown. Nelson's longest reception was for an incredible 99 yards.
Henrietta's victory lifted them to 6-3 while Valley View's defeat dropped them down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Henrietta against Valley View in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 34-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Henrietta since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
