Baseball Recap: Pen Argyl Gets the Win

Pen Argyl came out on top against Northwestern Lehigh on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Green Knights skirted past the Tigers 5-4. For the Green Knights, this counts as revenge for the 4-1 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Lucas Lerch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Pen Argyl is 3-0-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Lerch was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Lerch wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nick Haros, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Pen Argyl's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Northwestern Lehigh, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-2.
