Volleyball Recap: Perry Triumphs

Perry was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They won by a set and slipped past the Saydel Eagles 3-2. The Bluejays haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Perry was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (109-107), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-22, 23-25, 26-24, 15-13.

Kalley Whelchel had a dynamite game, getting ten digs and two aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last six matches.

Whelchel wasn't the only good servers: Perry was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That's a new trend for the Bluejays: they were averaging 2.8 aces per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 5.6.

Perry's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-13. As for Saydel, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Perry wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Panorama on the 27th. Hopefully Saydel paid attention to the Bluejays' match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Bluejays at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
