Baseball Recap: Dwight-Englewood Comes Up Short

Dwight-Englewood lost against Emerson back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bulldogs took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cavaliers.

Dwight-Englewood saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Bevilacqua, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. Bevilacqua has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Jimmy Burke also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Dwight-Englewood has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Emerson, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-10-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dwight-Englewood will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ridgefield Memorial at 4:15 p.m. on the 12th. As for Emerson, they will take on Waldwick at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
