Gilbert and Brookland-Cayce are an even 4-4 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Indians will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Brookland-Cayce heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Gilbert took over last week. The Indians walked away with a 21-14 win over Midland Valley on Friday.

Meanwhile, Brookland-Cayce slipped by Aiken 20-19 on Thursday.

Brookland-Cayce found their leader in sophomore Andrew Frick, who threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns. Frick is becoming a predictor of the Bearcats' success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Avery King helped Frick out on the ground, rushing for 105 yards.

Brookland-Cayce didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Campbell Parsons and Bennett Plane. Davion McGill-Boykin was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making nine total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Brookland-Cayce's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Gilbert, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4.

Gilbert won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in October of 2024, slipping by Brookland-Cayce 50-49. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bearcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
