Game recap

Desert Edge (Goodyear, Ariz.) snapped Liberty (Peoria, Ariz.)'s 7-game winning streak, with a 26-0 victory on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Kyle Woolard in the second quarter, the Scorpions led 14-0 at the half.

Desert Edge expanded its lead to 26 points entering the fourth quarter. DE scored three times in the third, including once on a field goal by Chris Brown.

Woolard was the top performer for the Goodyear school. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.

The Scorpions went into the matchup giving up only 9.6 points per game. The zero points that the Lions ended with were well below their average of 51.3 coming into the game.

The victory will ease some of the sting of Desert Edge's close 43-42 loss to Liberty last season.

The loss comes after Liberty defeated Greenway 38-33 last week.

Liberty (7-1) will play a non-conference game against Kellis next week, while Desert Edge (8-0) will take on Buckeye also in a non-conference game.
