Football Recap: Hamilton Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Ian Nichols and Justin Verner

If Hamilton was riding high fresh off their 49-22 takedown of Walnut last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions took a 38-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Baldwyn Bearcats on Friday.

Hamilton's loss came despite strong showings from Justin Verner and Ian Nichols. Verner threw for 365 yards and a pair of TDs, while Nichols picked up 148 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Jourdan Crump produced another solid effort rushing for 207 yards and three scores while picking up 8.6 yards per carry for Baldwyn. Those 207 rushing yards gave Crump a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Calvin Price, who rushed for 101 yards and one touchdown.

Hamilton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Baldwyn, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1.

Coming up, Hamilton will challenge Hatley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Baldwyn, they will take on Walnut at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bearcats are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
