Basketball Recap: Sage Ridge Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Sage Ridge extended their road winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Sophia Soran. The Sage Ridge Scorpions enjoyed a cozy 43-29 victory over the Virginia City Muckers on Tuesday thanks in part to Soran, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 17 boards. Her evening made it 11 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Despite the defeat, Virginia City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tesla Turley posted 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Turley has scored all season.

Sage Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points per game. As for Virginia City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sage Ridge has already played their next contest (against Smith Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Virginia City won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Portola at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
