Baseball Recap: North Allegheny Has No Trouble Against North Hills

North Allegheny owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They put the hurt on the North Hills Indians with a sharp 8-0 win. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

The result came thanks to Jackson Walsh's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Mason Smith was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of JJ Mancuso, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: North Allegheny kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.

The victory made it two in a row for North Allegheny and bumps their season record up to 12-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for North Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-12.

North Allegheny and North Hills should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Tigers (ranked 45th) will meet Upper St. Clair (ranked 141st) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, North Hills will challenge Penn Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (267 vs. 545).
