Recap: Liberty Chargers vs. Poinciana Eagles
The Liberty Chargers lost against the Poinciana Eagles back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Liberty took a 49-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Poinciana. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Liberty in their matchups with Poinciana: they've now lost nine in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Liberty lost, one person who can't be blamed is India Smith. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 steals. Smith scored a full 43.2% of Liberty's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christina Mossey, who scored 8 points.
Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Poinciana, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Liberty will head out on the road to face off against Celebration at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Poinciana, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Olympia at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Olympia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
