Football Recap: Bergan Catholic Knights vs. Wood River Eagles
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bergan Catholic had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Wood River Eagles 61-0. The Knights' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Leading Bergan Catholic to victory were Trent Mlnarik and Austin Scheuler. Mlnarik rushed for 114 yards and three TDs on only nine carries, while Scheuler threw for 296 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Mlnarik got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 77 yards. Another player making a difference was Gavin Baker, who picked up 67 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Bergan Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Owen Koenig, Cade Pribnow, Gavin Dean, and Alex Kimminau picked up one apiece.
