Basketball Recap: Riverside Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Riverside and Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Riverside had to settle for second. They fell 73-66 to the Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Argonauts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Raiders are ranked 85th).

Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter found their leader in sophomore Devin Bolden, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 13 boards. Bolden is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last seven games he's played. Cheick Wade was another key player, going 5-for-10 to rack up 15 points and three steals.

Riverside moved to 18-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points over those games. As for Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Riverside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against University at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. University knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter likes a good challenge.
