Basketball Recap: Lex Mello Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Foundation Christian Academy

It was a proper cat-fight when Lakeside Christian faced off against Foundation Christian Academy on Tuesday. The Lakeside Christian Lions came out on top against the Foundation Christian Academy Panthers by a score of 43-33. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lakeside Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lex Mello, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Marli Chase, who posted 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals.

Lakeside Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 20 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Lakeside Christian's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Foundation Christian Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeside Christian will head out to challenge Indian Rocks Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Foundation Christian Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bayshore Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
