Preview: Carrollwood Day Patriots vs. Tampa Prep Terrapins
After five games on the road, Carrollwood Day is heading back home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Tampa Prep Terrapins at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
On Thursday, Carrollwood Day ended up a good deal behind North Tampa Christian Academy and lost 56-41. While losing is never fun, Carrollwood Day can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while North Tampa Christian Academy is ranked 51st).
Tampa Prep suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Academy of the Holy Names at home and fell 56-25. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Tampa Prep has scored all season.
Despite their defeat, Tampa Prep saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kimora Green, who scored eight points, was perhaps the best of all.
Carrollwood Day's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Tampa Prep, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7.
Carrollwood Day took a serious blow against Tampa Prep in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 62-35. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Carrollwood Day was down 38-13.
