Basketball Recap: Lilly Atkinson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Granville Christian Academy

Millersport's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against Granville Christian Academy by a score of 54-43. This was a revenge game for the Lakers: when they faced off against Granville Christian Academy back in November of 2024, they had to take a 48-44 loss.

Millersport's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lilly Atkinson, who posted 13 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Raver, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Millersport smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Skyler Weekley and Brynn Flowers certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Weekley had 15 points along with six boards and four steals, while Flowers went 6 for 11 on her way to 18 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. Flowers has become a key player for Granville Christian Academy: the team is 6-2 when she posts at least five steals, but 1-2 otherwise.

Millersport's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Granville Christian Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-4 record.

Millersport has already played their next contest, a 52-29 loss against Columbus School for Girls on the 15th. As for Granville Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 42-20 victory against Northside Christian on the 14th.
