There's no place like home for Baker, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Booker T. Washington Wildcats on Thursday as they made off with a 14-4 victory. Considering the Gators have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Abigail Griffin was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Griffin was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Justyce Johns was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Bayleigh Jernigan was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Baker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Baker's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Booker T. Washington, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-11.
Coming up, Baker will face off against Paxton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Booker T. Washington, they will square off against Cottage Hill Christian Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
