The Eastern Hills Highlanders will face off against the Decatur Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
If Eastern Hills beats Decatur with 34 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Highlanders beat Western Hills on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 34-28. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Highlanders.

Prince Hill was his usual excellent self, rushing for 224 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 116 rushing yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Johnson, who rushed for 118 yards and three TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Eastern Hills was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 342 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Decatur). They claimed a resounding 68-0 win over Carter-Riverside. Given Decatur's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Carter-Riverside is ranked 1126th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Decatur found their leader in sophomore Rhys Ragan, who threw for 175 yards and five touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 42 yards. Those five passing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Ragan. Chase Berg was another key player, picking up 78 receiving yards and three scores.
Eastern Hills now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Decatur, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Eastern Hills has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 231.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Decatur struggles in that department as they've been averaging 213.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Eastern Hills was taken down by Decatur 55-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Highlanders, Jed Ross (who threw for 171 yards and three TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
