Preview: McCutcheon Mavericks vs. Anderson Indians
Two dominant guards in Brody Baker and Damien King are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The McCutcheon Mavericks will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Anderson Indians at 7:30 p.m. McCutcheon is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
Last Thursday, McCutcheon came up short against Benton Central and fell 65-52.
Despite their defeat, McCutcheon saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brody Raeke, who scored 15 points, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Raeke has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Baker, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Anderson put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 70-46 margin over Daleville. The win was familiar territory for Anderson who now have three in a row.
McCutcheon has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season. As for Anderson, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
McCutcheon was dealt a bruising 78-34 defeat at the hands of Anderson when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point McCutcheon was down 51-12.
