Baseball Recap: Huffman Takes a Loss

After flying high against Woodlawn on Friday, Huffman came back down to earth. The Vikings came up short against the Shades Valley Mounties on Saturday, falling 11-5. The Vikings were not able to make up for their loss to the Mounties from their previous meeting back in April of 2022.

Dylan Craig was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mekhidric Jackson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Huffman's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Shades Valley, their record now sits at 5-22.

Coming up, Huffman will host Fultondale at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Shades Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Minor at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mounties are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
