Baseball Recap: David Crockett Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tennessee, David Crockett was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Unicoi County Blue Devils. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 22, 2019, but that streak is no more.

Aj Ford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because David Crockett is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-13 otherwise.

At the plate, David Crockett's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Street, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases Street has posted since back in March. Marcus Greenway was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

David Crockett's record now sits at 9-14. As for Unicoi County, their record is now 14-8.

Coming up, David Crockett will face off against Smoky Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Unicoi County, they will take on South Greene at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
