Recap: Springwood Wildcats vs. Macon-East Montgomery Academy Knights
The Springwood Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 65-42 margin over Macon-East Montgomery Academy. Winning may never get old, but Springwood sure is getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
It was another big night for Micah Thomas, who scored 33 points along with six rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Springwood's points. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Johnson, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Macon-East Montgomery Academy's loss on Wednesday came despite strong showings from Keagan Roney and Jacob Johnson. Roney dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Johnson scored 16 points. Roney hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games.
Even though they lost, Macon-East Montgomery Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Springwood only pulled down 23 offensive rebounds.
Springwood's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Springwood will be home for the holidays to greet Trinity Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Trinity Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 313th, while Springwood is ranked 44th). As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Autauga Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
