Volleyball Recap: Clayton Valley Charter Gets the Win

Clayton Valley Charter saw some tournament action on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Castro Valley Trojans.

Juan Carlos Cabral paced Clayton Valley Charter's offense, picking up eight kills. Cabral got some help from Jeremy Oviedo and his 18 assists. Finally, DeAngelo Gasalatan kept Clayton Valley Charter's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Clayton Valley Charter is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to aces: they averaged an imposing 6.17 aces in those games compared to only 2.75 in the others. Castro Valley now has a losing record of 3-4.

Clayton Valley Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Northgate on the 8th. As for Castro Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Oakland Tech on the 8th.
