Softball Recap: Yazoo County Starts Season with Victory at Home

Yazoo County took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Leake Central Gators a 13-0 shutout.

Lilly Andrews and Anna Kiley Leal were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Andrews struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Leal tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Andrews scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Leal scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. What's more, Andrews also racked up three hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
