Softball Recap: Loudon Redskins vs. Lenoir City Panthers
Loudon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 9-3 walloping at the hands of the Lenoir City Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Loudon of the 7-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
For Lenoir City's part, they got a great performance from Molly Robinson as she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (she also didn't allow any walks). Robinson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Sophie Reed was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kymbal Williams, who went 2-for-4 with a triple, a stolen base, and two RBI.
Loudon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Lenoir City, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-8.
Loudon will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against McMinn Central at 6:00 p.m. As for Lenoir City, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Concord Christian at 12:00 p.m. Lenoir City is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
