Softball Recap: Mountain Brook Takes a Loss

Mountain Brook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 9-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Mountain Brook saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anne Turner Goldman, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Mountain Brook's loss dropped their record down to 9-24. As for Mortimer Jordan, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-17 record this season.

Mountain Brook will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Woodlawn at 5:00 p.m. As for Mortimer Jordan, they will head out on the road to challenge Hartselle at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
