Baseball Recap: Carmel Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for Carmel's offense. They lost 11-0 to the Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers on Saturday. The Corsairs' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Carmel's loss dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Joliet Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-13 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Carmel will take on rival Niles Notre Dame at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Joliet Catholic is set to square off against their familiar foe Benet Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hilltoppers 3.2, the Redwings 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
