Baseball Game Preview: Monticello Mustangs vs. Western Albemarle Warriors

Monticello is 0-10 against Western Albemarle since May of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Mustangs will welcome the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Monticello has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monticello is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Fluvanna County, falling 14-4.

Gryfin Costa made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Western Albemarle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-1 to Albemarle, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Western Albemarle saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jay Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Western Albemarle, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
