Basketball Game Preview: Nativity BVM Green Wave vs. Minersville Battlin' Miners

The Nativity BVM Green Wave will face off against the Minersville Battlin' Miners at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Nativity BVM's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups.

Last Friday, Nativity BVM didn't have quite enough to beat Central Mountain and fell 84-81. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (60), the Green Wave still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Minersville had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 76-42 victory over Weatherly. Given the Battlin' Miners' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Weatherly are ranked 458th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nativity BVM better keep an eye on Shazier Bethea. He was instrumental in Minersville's win, going 7 for 13 en route to 25 points and five rebounds. What's more, Bethea also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Bradley Kostishak was another key player, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten boards.

Nativity BVM's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Minersville, their win bumped their record up to 20-3.

Nativity BVM was taken down by Minersville 73-43 in their previous matchup back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Nativity BVM was down 47-21.
