Basketball Recap: Alameda Pirates vs. Skyline Falcons
Alameda played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 66-30 loss at the hands of the Skyline Falcons. Having soared to a lofty 59 points in the game before, the Pirates couldn't push the score so high this time.
Skyline found their leader in sophomore Thomas Martinez-Hernandez, who went 10 for 15 on his way to 26 points in addition to six assists and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martinez-Hernandez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny McCray, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points and three steals.
Alameda is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4. As for Skyline, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-2.
Alameda will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bennett at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Skyline and Wheat Ridge will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Skyline is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season.
