Basketball Recap: Eli Mast Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

There's no place like home for Western, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 51-38 win over the Lafayette Central Catholic Knights on Tuesday. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 64-53 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Western's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Mast, who posted 12 points. Sam Thurston was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ray Clayton, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Clayton a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Mikey Stapleton, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points.

Western's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Western will head out to square off against Logansport at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, they will welcome McCutcheon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
