Recap: Jeff Davis Yellowjackets vs. Telfair County Trojans
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Jeff Davis Yellowjackets ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 65-59 W over Telfair County. The victory was just what Jeff Davis needed coming off of a 84-61 defeat in their prior matchup.
Jeff Davis got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Amari Jackson out in front who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was A.J. Hunt, who scored 16 points.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rodriquez Clay, who scored 26 points. That was a full 44.1% of Telfair County's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Mclaughlin, who scored 16 points.
Jeff Davis is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-9 record this season. As for Telfair County, they have fallen quite a ways from their 21-6 record last season and are now at 3-8.
Jeff Davis will be playing at home against Cook at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Cook focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Friday. As for Telfair County, they will head out on the road to square off against Wilcox County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Wilcox County is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
