While Damien's  victory against Rancho Cucamonga wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Spartans narrowly escaped with a  win as the  squad sidled past the Cougars  5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Spartans have posted  since April 16th.
 Andrew Torres tossed a big game,   tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off   three  hits.
 On the hitting side,  Russell Del Castillo was  excellent,  going 2-for-3 with two  RBI and one  double. That's the most  RBI  he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was  Bobby Logue, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with one  run.
The  win made it two in a row for Damien and  bumps their season record up to 14-13. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Rancho Cucamonga,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 18-9.
Damien will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 3:15  p.m.  on Wednesday.
