Baseball Recap: Ashe County Gets the Win

Ashe County won the last time they faced Freedom and things went their way on Tuesday too. Ashe County walked away with a 7-2 win over Freedom. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.

Ashe County got a great performance from Kye Pennington as he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave Pennington a new career-high.

Ashe County's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-4. As for Freedom, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Ashe County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 12-10 loss against North Surry on the 26th. As for Freedom, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 14-1 defeat against Watauga on the 28th.
