The Illinois Valley Central Grey Ghosts will challenge the Brimfield Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Illinois Valley Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
If Illinois Valley Central beats Brimfield with ten runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Grey Ghosts didn't even let Hall on the board on Friday, marking the Grey Ghosts' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Grey Ghosts in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won five in a row.
Emersyn Fleming was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Fleming was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Illinois Valley Central got a massive performance out of Taylor Zannacker, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Madeline Bazyn, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Illinois Valley Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hall only posted an OBP of .222.
Meanwhile, Brimfield waltzed into their game on Monday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 1-0 shutout. The Indians' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last seven contests.
Not much got past Schyer Meinders, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Illini Bluffs off the board. Meinders has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brimfield's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kendyl Binder, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Brimfield pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Illinois Valley Central, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
Both Illinois Valley Central and Brimfield just can't seem to miss. The Grey Ghosts have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Brimfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Illinois Valley Central came up short against Brimfield when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 6-1. Will the Grey Ghosts have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
