Softball Recap: Amundsen Takes a Loss

Amundsen was the 7-4 winner over Payton College Prep when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Vikings fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 5-4 on Monday.

Kate Frey was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Amundsen has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Payton College Prep, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7.

Amundsen didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-1 victory against Hancock on the 15th. As for Payton College Prep, they will head out to take on Taft at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
