Basketball Recap: Hawthorne Piles Up the Points Against Animo Leadership

Hawthorne's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Animo Leadership Aztec Eagles, posting a 61-28 victory. That looming 61-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Hawthorne had a senior duo take command as Alfredo Ramirez posted 14 points and Irain Bindi earned 14 points. Those 14 points gave Bindi a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kordae Edwards, who put up eight points.

Hawthorne is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Animo Leadership, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Hawthorne will take on Hoover in a tournament on Thursday. One thing working in Hoover's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.
