Volleyball Recap: Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates vs. Fleming Wildcats
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Genoa-Hugo/Karval can now relate to. They came up short against the Fleming Wildcats on Friday, falling 3-0. The Pirates were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in November of 2017.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-18, 25-13.
Rylee Corn paced Genoa-Hugo/Karval's offense, picking up six kills. Corn got some help from Rylee Kelly and her eight assists. Finally, Corn was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.
Fleming was led to victory by Brooke Schaefer and Emoree Lousberg. Schaefer had 11 digs and four assists, while Lousberg had nine digs. Schaefer is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last eight games she's played.
Genoa-Hugo/Karval's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Fleming, they pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Genoa-Hugo/Karval does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fleming, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Stratton on the 13th.
