Baseball Game Preview: Clear Creek Golddiggers vs. SkyView Academy Hawks

The Clear Creek Golddiggers will head out on the road to square off against the SkyView Academy Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Clear Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Clear Creek is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Lyons just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 9-2 to the Lions. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Golddiggers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Clear Creek saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Lewis, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Raymond Kurtz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, SkyView Academy came up short against Dawson School on Thursday and fell 10-5. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clay Cosart made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Morrison, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 4-4. As for SkyView Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Clear Creek has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like SkyView Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Clear Creek might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from SkyView Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Golddiggers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
